Here is the video F.A.M.A.S. did for the Hot House Flowers party we threw. It was a really great party— Ken and Nami went to the flower district at 5:30 AM to decorate the space, which subsequently smelled like a greenhouse filled with flowers. Ken created a French Algerian lounge up in the loft with St Germain-laden cocktails. He also arranged a fine collection of single malt scotches in his library, which was unsurprisingly devoured very quickly. From time to time people wandered up to the roof to take in the incredible view of Manhattan.

The main room was where the dance party was at— you can see people getting down in the video.

I wrote a special music track for it called “Inside the Hot House.” Abel and Abraham of F.A.M.A.S. came through to document the whole thing, and you can see their results here…

SPACE INVADERS… This was a great party. Spence and his crew from Nexusdeep Entertainment put it together on a roof in Bushwick. When I first got there to set up the only people on the roof were a photographer and a mostly naked professional model. We all kind of awkwardly apologized to each other and I went about setting up.

Abe and Abel Olmos from F.A.M.A.S: (Fashion Art Music Architecture & Society) took some incredible pictures of the pre-party sunset photos and edited together a really nice video of the night too.

The crowd was enthusiastic and positive, and seemed to appreciate the opportunity to dance to whatever eclectic (or poppy) stuff I threw at them. Very few whiners came up demanding bad music, which is a rare thing. Almamy seemed particularly happy, which made me happy.

Button Love destroyed it, putting on a laser-light and smoke infused multiple costume-change spectacle and all the while performing their songs with precision and energy. They turned out a LOT of people, all of whom seemed to be there for the performance itself and not just to party.

Dirty Dan, Aman Ellis, and SpenceGabor played some intense sets that were really well put together and very abstract. The crowd ate it up. Later in the night it was much more of a deep house type feel— I should have brought more of that stuff.

As I headed home I watched the sun rise over Marcy Ave and thought “I’m too old for this shit.” Then I got a text from Spencer asking if I was up for the next one and I thought “Hell yes.”

DJ Flo is apparently living the life...:

I had the honor of somehow playing on the same bill with DJ Flo a month or so ago. He was exceptionally good, and very intimidating. Once we had a chance to talk I realized he’s a very nice guy. He gave me some good advice that day too, which was something like “the goal of a DJ is to figure out how to bridge their own taste with the crowd’s taste.”

Here’s a write-up of him in Hamptons magazine of all places. Looks like DJ Flo is making the most of his summer.
